Miloš Balabán is the head of the Center for Security Policy since its foundation in 2005.
He graduated from the Military Academy and served in the army from 1983 to 2001, currently he is a Colonel in reserve. He completed his doctoral studies in 2000 at the Institute of International Studies, Faculty of Social Sciences, Charles University
His research primarily focuses on Czech and European security policy, foreign and domestic politics of China and other non-western actors, as well as the transformation of the global order.
He is an author or co-author of several books and his articles are regularly published in peer-reviewed journals. He was a member of the working group "Foresight and Scenarios" of the European Security Research and Innovation Forum (2008-2009) and in 2016 he participated in the National Security Audit, as an opponent. He is a member of the advisory board of the Czech Minister of Foreign Affairs, and member of the Scientific Council to the Director General of Fire and Rescue Corps of the Czech Republic.
